I enjoyed playing badminton casually growing up, and when I was looking at all the club offerings at UVM around the time I decided to come here, I thought that being in the badminton club might be pretty fun. I showed up within my first few weeks at school and found that most of the students in the club were international students who, even though they said they only played casually, were playing at a very high level. They were all excited to have me though and made me feel welcome, so I stuck with it, and have definitely improved a bit. It's a group that I might not have started spending time with if it wasn't for badminton club, but I have a lot of fun memories from it now! - Cal Hale

The week before thanksgiving break, the Women's club soccer team went to Round Rock Texas for a Nationals. All year we had been practicing at 6 am twice a week, scrimmaging teams from VT and MA to qualify for going. We packed up and flew to Texas which is an opportunity I never thought I'd having playing on a CLUB team. After two days of games, we were all ready to just relax. Instead of staying at a hotel, we had raised enough funds to rent an air b&b which was a total fun house. There was a pool, hot tub, pool table and so many cool features. We mixed with a bunch of teams down there. We went exploring in downtown Austin and stopped at all the best spots for food! This is an opportunity I never could've imagined I'd have. -Kamryn Diel

In my first year at UVM, I found a lot of the clubs I still interact with at Activities Fest. One group in particular was the Quidditch Club. They had the hoops and balls prepared, as well as a big poster of a golden snitch. Every person who walked past was posed the question "What house are you?" and the energy I got from them was contagious. That same energy still exists to this day as they are a semi-competitive but very inclusive club. -Jacob Curtis

Intramurals
-
It was my first month at UVM and I didn't know anyone on campus, but my roommate and I loved to play soccer. Naturally, we found our way down to the indoor turf fields with a soccer ball in hand. There, we met a bunch of other first years who liked to play soccer. We started an Intramural soccer team and the rest is history. They are my best friends and I am currently living with six of them! -Garrett Higgins
