One of my roommates is currently a psychology major. However, when she came into UVM, she was studying Animal Science. She was able to get an internship at a local vet's office in her first year, which was great because at that point she wanted to be a vet. However, she discovered through that internship that she didn't actually want to become a vet, so she decided to switch majors. Obviously internships can be great to get experience in your field, but for her it was still incredibly helpful to get her on her current path and realize only a year into her degree that her major wasn't for her. -Avi Bauer

Last year I was applying to a host of summer internships and the career center really helped me through the whole process. I was able to get help editing my resume with them, get sample interview questions, and lots of advice related to preparing for an interview. The staff there was so supportive and helped me land a summer job in my hometown in Maine! -Garrett Higgins

I love the career center. When I was a first year, I knew I wanted to change my major, but had no idea where to start. So, I scheduled a meeting with the career center to explain the type of work I was looking for after graduation and decide which majors/minors would be best in getting me there. The woman I met with was so lovely and empathetic to my stressing situation. She helped me find the list of all UVM majors and minors and clarified questions I had about what the college requirements are, and where to go next. It really made the experience of switching my major smooth and less chaotic! - Emilie Begin
