Required talking points

  • What ALL identity centers offer

    • Caring staff: Full-time dedicated staff who genuinely want to get to know students and act as a support system

    • Physical spaces: Study spaces, computer labs, food pantries, kitchens, meditation rooms, and more

    • Identity Centers are community spaces to build connections - and comfortable places to hang out!

    • Counseling: CAPS Counselors in- MCSC/Prism, Victim's Advocate-WGEC

    • Award Banquets: leadership recognition & graduation

    • Collaboration across centers: Siblinghood, for example, is a community gathering affinity space for Queer, Trans*, Black, Indigenous, People of Color...often with a shared meal, discussion and activity

    • Whether you're looking for events, resources, or conversation & connections... the Identity Centers offer a lot to our students.

  • Concise summary of each centers' work from a UVM email:

    • We have many structures in place (e.g., Identity Centers) to support a more equitable, inclusive environment. The Mosaic Center for Students of Color (MCSC) is designed to connect students with one another and with resources to assist them in their journey. The Prism Center serves our diverse queer and trans communities. The Women and Gender Equity Center provides advocacy services for those in our community who have experienced sexual or intimate partner violence, and strives to provide programming, education and events that ask our community to explore the intersections of their gender and other identities. The Interfaith Center provides a space for students to engage in reflection, education and community building through a religious tradition, philosophy or spiritual practice.
